Nabeel Koshak is the Executive Director of Center of Research Excellence in Hajj and Omrah. Koshak is an Associate Professor and Founder and Director of Design and Planning Support Systems (DPSS) Research Unit, Department of Urban and Engineering Research, Hajj Research Institute, Umm Al-Qura University, Makkah, Saudi Arabia. Koshak teaches courses at the Department of Islamic Architecture, College of Engineering and Islamic Architecture, Umm Al-Qura University.
His research, teaching, and practice interests focus on computing in architecture and urban design/planning, including Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Koshak received a Bachelor of Architectural Engineering from Umm Al-Qura University in 1993, a Master of Architecture from the University of Colorado (Sundance Lab for Computing in Design and Planning) in 1997, and a PhD in Computational Design from the School of Architecture, Carnegie Mellon University in 2002. He joined Umm Al-Qura's faculty in May 2002.
In practice, Koshak is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of CAD & GIS Co., Ltd. CG is a leading company in the region providing solutions, professional services, consulting, and training on CAD and GIS. CG partners are Autodesk, ESRI, ARCHIBUS, and SimWalk.
