Policy recommendations are a key expected outcome of the event...
There is growing agreement amongst policy makers and city officials that becoming an “Intelligent City” is both desirable and imperative as nations move toward becoming more knowledgeable societies. No city wants to be left behind and offer less than its full potential. The main objective of the conference is identifying the requirements to becoming an “Intelligent City”. In addition we need to determine how best to achieve these requirements by overcoming challenges and taking advantage of opportunities.
Intelligent “Habitats”
and “users”, are in turn
the building blocks of
intelligent cities...
In much the same way that intelligent communities and cities are the building blocks of intelligent societies, intelligent habitats- buildings, towers, homes, offices, and public facilities and services, and the all important empowered users,
are the building blocks of intelligent cities.
Intelligent applications,
buildings, homes and
users are all part of a
truly intelligent city...
An essential requirement for the transformation to an “Intelligent City” is a high performance infrastructure to allow the city to connect at broadband speed to the WWW. The key factors governing the transformation include: The habitats being tied to “the grid”, the applications and the end users. The conference will also address access barriers and solutions to these barriers using technology. |
